In my opinion, one of the biggest challenges we face in life is worrying about what happens next. When I’m anxious or worried about something to come, the most common reassurance I hear from those around me is “don’t worry about it.” It’s so much easier said than done, yet it’s so common to tell loved ones when they’re uneasy about life. 

There has to be some reason behind that, right? I’d like to believe that the reason is that we can’t accomplish much about worrying other than stressing ourselves out. When we dwell on something that’s already happened or hasn’t even happened yet, we’re setting ourselves up for mental exhaustion, sadness, or possible guilt. We can’t control situations that are said and done. And we certainly can’t control the events of tomorrow. We can try, to a degree, but we’ll never truly have a hand in how our lives will play out.

Don’t be afraid, though. I know it sounds scary — the uncertainty of tomorrow. However, the best part? It gives us the opportunity to appreciate every single moment of right now. We don’t get to redo things, so it’s best we take advantage of every beautiful opportunity we’re given. Each is a gift, good or bad. We just might not realize that until later, but you have the choice to take things one day at a time and use your time as you’d like. How are you going to spend today?
